VISKING DIALYSIS
MEMBRANE is resistant to a wide variety of chemicals and below is a list
of common substances and their likely effects on the membrane. This is
clearly not an exhaustive list and we would be grateful to hear from you
if you have used other substances and found them to affect the membrane
in some way, please e-mail us
with your experiences and we will update the list.
For further information
as well as tolerances for the regenerated membranes (RC) we have included
chemical tolerance information on Cellulose ester (CE), Polyvinylidine
Fluoride (PVDF) and Polysulphone membranes.
Details of these membranes
can be obtained from MEDICELL INTERNATIONAL
LTD.
pH range tolerance is from 2 to 12.
| KEY TO RATINGS: |
|
G
|
GOOD TOLERANCE - UNLIKELY
TO CAUSE MAJOR DYSFUNCTION OF THE MEMBRANE. ALTHOUGH TESTING IS
NOT NORMALLY NECESSARY IT IS ADVISABLE. |
|
P
|
POOR TOLERANCE - LIKELY TO
CAUSE DISTORTION OR DENATURING OF THE MEMBRANE WHICH MAY RESULT
IN LOSS OF MATERIAL AND POOR RESULTS. TESTING IS ADVISABLE. |
|
F
|
FAIR TOLERANCE - THESE SUBSTANCES
ARE LIKELY TO CAUSE DISTORTIONS IN THE MEMBRANE AND THEREFORE RESULTS
MAY BE AFFECTED. WHEN MEMBRANES ARE USED WITH THESE SUBSTANCES IT
IS IMPORTANT THAT TESTING IS CARRIED OUT TO ENSURE THAT THE EFFECT
OF THESE SUBSTANCES IS KNOWN. |
